[ hani lets the silence linger. it fills in the space of them studying him. the little differences and the things that remain the same - and, it feels as though, it feels as if… the air around him has lifted a bit.
because, to their surprise, he’s willing to talk first. it wasn’t an instant rejection. and the hope they didn’t know they were holding unfurls, budding in the light of today.
hani blinks. ]
I came for you. [ ‘you,’ they sign, fawn movements. ‘for you.’ ] Will you say yes?
[ uncertainty returns and hani wears it like a coat a size too big, ill-fitting and new. their eyes flick from his to where his fingers rest on the doorframe. the words are slow to find their way to him and what comes out is not what hani means to ask. not really. ]
Do you want me to answer here?
[ in the doorway, in the open. and that, too, is unlike them - almost as though they’ve learned some tact, some consideration.
should they seem happy about this? they aren’t. they just… just… what? ah - they know. they don’t want the barrier of this door between the two of them right now. ]
[ that...earns even more of a suspicious look, dosei's eyes scrunching and face pinching with...he's not sure. it's a deep-set sort of self-deprecating confusion, unsure and uncomfortable in the way he lets the question settle in the air.
is it so hard, he thinks, to answer simply? what could possibly be so embarrassing an answer they wouldn't want to say it here? he can feel the burn of niko's eyes on the back of his neck, and a tense silence seems to settle.
they shouldn't be here. he doesn't really want them here. but his gaze flickers from them, to their face, to the wall behind them-
and makes an exasperated growl in the back of his throat before he reaches out to snatch their wrist and tug them inside. if they want to follow, he'll promptly try to drag them down the hall to an open door, right past the gobsmacked figure of his older brother and into what seems to be a hastily put together guest room.
the door closes, cutting them off from the rest of the apartment, and the air feels somewhat stagnant. ]
<< Fine. >> [ fine. here. his hands gesture to the room, obviously lived in but not quite personal, and dosei stares in a way that might suggest he's trying to burn a hole through them for answers. ] << You wanna say something, then say it. >>
[ oh. well. if he can touch them, then touching him is fair game, they decide. they don’t reach for his hands - he needs those. they reach for his shoulders, pushing him deeper into the room. whatever his reaction, they keep pushing.
back. and back. until they have him cornered.
until he can’t run from them. ]
You… [ they repeat it again, like a sigh. like relief, that they have him here in front of them. this close. and he touched them first. he did. ] You… are so annoying. Yes, I think that’s… a little of what I feel.
[ it’s a start. they’re still trying to figure out the list that makes up their feelings for him. ]
I think… perhaps… you mistake my intentions for pity. Sometimes. [ they push him into the wall, firm - not aggressive. or they try. ] But what’s there to pity when you’re so beautiful and your feelings are so raw?
[ he wants words from them, so they’ll let it spill. trickles at first, then more and more all over his floor. he’ll have to step on the words they leave behind if he wants to escape - and they hope the awkward angles of thoughts scattered poke him into thinking of them. ]
And I am - angry - that you like him. [ they don’t have to elaborate. ] But you don’t like me. All of this and I cannot ignore you. All of this and I still come here to reach for you.

Date: 2024-08-15 05:35 am (UTC)Dosei, naturally, regards this with suspicion, fingers tightening on the doorframe. And confusion, because...don't they know he doesn't like them?
( Or he didn't- he can't say for sure what his feelings are about anything, now. )
Moreso, it's just a bewildering concept. For him. Nobody goes anywhere for him. ]
<< Why. >>
[ Where do they even want to go? ]
<< Why would you even want to come for me. Don't you have other people you actually wanna see? >>
